The benefits of being a pet parent

I've often joked that my pets are my unregistered emotional support dogs. The truth is, they are!  I benefit from them in other ways too.

The bond between pets and pet parents contributes to better fitness, provides opportunities for increased activity and socialization which helps to lower stress, and generally brings happiness to us. Regular walking or playing with our pets can decrease blood pressure, cholesterol and triglyceride levels. As a companion, they help manage feelings of loneliness and depression.  Check out what the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has to say about Healthy Pets, Healthy People.
